Multiple Maryland schools closing early Friday due to expected snow-rain mix
BALTIMORE -- Multiple Maryland schools are closing early Friday, January 3 due to inclement weather expected from the afternoon into the evening.
A rain and snow mix is forecast for this afternoon and evening, ahead of a winter storm expected Sunday night into Monday. That storm could bring snow totals of three to four inches to the Baltimore area.
Friday is not expected to bring major snow accumulations, but roads and sidewalks could become slippery.
Baltimore County Public Schools are set to close two hours early due to the inclement weather expected, BCPS said. All after school and evening activities are also canceled. School and central offices will remain open, according to BCPS.
Carroll County, and Fredrick County Public Schools will also close two hours early, according to the counties.
Howard County Public Schools will close 90 minutes early. Aftercare, afternoon, and evening activities are also canceled.
Harford County Public Schools canceled all after school activities, according to an alert.
Baltimore City Public Schools said it is monitoring the forecast for Friday afternoon, but it is currently operating normally.
