Baltimore County Police Investigating Assault, Attempted Kidnapping Of 12-Year-Old Girl
OVERLEA, Md. (WJZ) -- Baltimore County Police are investigating an attempted abduction of a 12-year old girl.
On Wednesday morning, they said an arrest was made in the case.
The incident happened at around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, according to police.
Police said a 12-year-old girl was walking in the 4400 block of Fullerton Avenue in Overlea when she was approached by an unknown man who assaulted her and then pulled her into his vehicle.
The girl was able to escape from the vehicle and then flagged down a passing motorist for assistance.
The suspect's vehicle is described as a silver Nissan Altima.
"We've increased patrols and we need your help to identify him, locate him and hopefully get him arrested sometime soon," Baltimore County Police detective Robert Reason said.
Vivian Windisch practices soccer at Fullerton Park twice a week and said the incident has her thinking more about her personal safety.
"I always have my phone on me, like in my hand, and I have one of those flashlights that I use sometimes," she said. "I'm just always prepared."
Parents like Alison Tormollen said all children should be prepared.
"I know they're going to be times that I can't be with them, and they need to be prepared," Tormollen said. "Knowledge is more than half the battle."
