Baltimore County Councilman Sentenced To 2 Years Probation For DUI; Won't Serve Jail Time
TOWSON, Md. (WJZ)— A Baltimore County councilman arrested for driving under the influence and then allegedly trying to get special treatment was sentenced Tuesday morning to two years supervised probation.
Councilman Todd Huff was also ordered not to drink any alcohol during the time of his probation and was given a one-year suspended jail sentence.
The Lutherville Republican pleaded guilty earlier this month to driving under the influence.
In February, Councilman Huff was stopped by an officer while driving in his county vehicle on York Road in Towson. Police said a test showed he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.20 percent, more than twice the state's legal limit of 0.08 percent.
As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors dropped other charges, including a headlight violation and negligent driving.
Prosecutors wanted Huff to face a harsher consequence, pointing to his guilty plea in a hit-and-run that led to injuries 18 years ago.
Huff will also have points added to his driver's license.
