Baltimore County Caregiver Indicted For Abusing 84-Year-Old Patient
RANDALLSTOWN, Md. (WJZ)--A Randallstown caregiver has been arrested and charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult after he allegedly assaulted his elderly patient.
Raphael Nyong Asinyang, 43, of Randallstown, was arrested Thursday following his indictment by the Baltimore County grand jury on two criminal counts stemming from an incident that occurred Nov. 7, 2012 in a Randallstown nursing home.
It is alleged that Asinyang, who was employed as a caregiver in the nursing home, physically assaulted an 84-year-old male resident.
Asinyang is charged with one misdemeanor count of abuse of a vulnerable adult, as well as one misdemeanor count of assault. The charges carry maximum jail sentences of 5 years and 10 years, respectively, and maximum fines of $5,000 for the abuse charge and $2,500 for the assault charge.
Arraignment is scheduled for April 11.
