Barricades Ends At Northeast Baltimore Apartment Complex, Suspect Arrested
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- City police said they arrested a man who barricaded himself in an apartment complex.
Monique Griego has more.
Baltimore City police responded to the 6400 block of Loch Raven Boulevard just before 8:30 p.m. Friday night for a report of a breaking and entering.
According to police, the suspect attacked officers with a makeshift blowtorch at the scene. Officers then fired shots at the man, who retreated into the seventh floor of a senior-living apartment complex.
Witnesses said they were shocked to see how many police officers swarmed the area.
"It's a lot of police here. I mean, they got it blocked off so blocks like all the way up the Belvedere. It's gotta be something big for all this to come out here," said Brianna Angel.
"I finally heard it was a hostage negotiation going on. That's odd for an old folks home because the most you'd hear over here is an ambulance or a fire truck coming over there for the older folks, maybe once a day. But this, that's crazy," said Benjamin Angel.
The suspect is in custody and was not injured in the standoff.
