Baltimore County Police: Burglar Striking Office Buildings
BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- A string of burglaries in Baltimore County puts a group of office buildings on high alert.
Gigi Barnett explains detectives have been searching for the suspect for months.
Baltimore County police say a man enters office buildings and then burglarizes several suites. Detectives have been searching for him since January.
"We will respond to one burglary and discover that we actually have four or five businesses that have been targeted," said Baltimore County Police Detective Cathy Batten.
Investigators say he strikes at night, stealing as much as he can cart out.
"Postage stamps, money, office supplies, electronic equipment," Batten said.
He's even swiped food from the kitchen areas of these office buildings. Police say since December, he's hit buildings in Cockeysville and in the Franklin area. The latest came this past week at a medical building in Catonsville.
"On April 3, between the hours of midnight and 12:40 a.m., we discovered that three office businesses in an office building in the 400-block of Frederick Road," Batten said.
Blinds were drawn this weekend at the Catonsville complex and several office workers say they've recently installed new security equipment. Police say that's wise because the suspect strikes when nobody's there.
"No reports of confrontation. He simply breaks into the buildings when no one is there," Batten said.
Police are offering a $2,000 reward for information that puts their suspect behind bars.
Police say the suspect usually breaks a window or a door to get inside the businesses.
