Autopsy Reveals Del. Fugitive Was Killed By Shot To Head From Md. Officer
SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a man who was killed during a traffic stop in Salisbury was struck by a bullet fired by an officer's gun.
Troopers said Wednesday that an autopsy on the body of James L. Norris of Wilmington, Del., showed he died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators say Norris, 25, fired a gun in his jacket picket, but was not hit.
Norris was killed Monday after troopers stopped him. Police in Wilmington had asked Maryland authorities for help in finding Norris, who was wanted on handgun charges.
When a trooper spoke to Norris, he put both hands in his jacket pockets. When the trooper told Norris not to, police say Norris said one of them would die, prompting the trooper to pull his gun.
