Assisted Living Residents Communicate With Airman
HAMPSTEAD, Md. (AP) -- Airman First Class Douglas Meekins is spending his first Christmas away from home this year.
But residents at Golden Crest Assisted Living in Hampstead are doing what they can to make him feel at home while far away.
Meekins, of Hampstead, joined the United States Air Force in April and expects to be deployed to Afghanistan in the spring.
About nine of the 16 residents at the Evergreen Drive facility baked cookies and signed a card to send to Meekins, who is currently stationed at Beale Air Force Base in northern California.
