Arundel Mills Casino Gets New Restaurant
ARUNDEL MILLS, Md. (WJZ) -- This week, the final structural beam was set into place at the new slots casino being built at Arundel Mills.
Now, as Mike Schuh reports, a new destination restaurant was announced, bringing with it more traffic.
The Baltimore institution, The Prime Rib, unveiled what their newest restaurant will look like once the Maryland Live! Casino at Arundel Mills is completed.
"Well, we really have something for everyone, have a broad audience for the casino entertainment complex and this is a world-class facility," said Joe Weinberg, The Cordish Companies.
Also here, a Bobby Flay burger restaurant, The Cheesecake Factory and Phillips Seafood.
"Well, we have a great mix of national brands and Maryland companies so we feel we have the best of all worlds," Weinberg said.
Great restaurants may be great for this casino but there are still plenty of people who oppose the project.
"I'm an avid gambler but the traffic and congestion here, I voted against it," said one opponent.
"All these people who work around the mall and don't have to live around it and live with it, you just don't understand what we're going through," said another.
There's no doubt that traffic will now increase but the developer has long held that the traffic plan is adequate and the area around the mall is designed to handle the gambling and dining guests who come to the casino. The project will mean 1,500 jobs.
The casino will open this summer with it being fully completed by October.
