Artwork From Nation's Students Goes On View In D.C.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Artwork from students across the country is going on display at Washington's Union Station to showcase the creative abilities of all students.
An affiliate of the Kennedy Center that provides arts opportunities for people with disabilities is opening the exhibit Wednesday with CVS Caremark. It features 102 pieces of artwork, including paintings, sculptures and photographs. There are two student artists from each state and the District of Columbia.
Artists and art educators selected the exhibit pieces from 4,700 entries in a nationwide competition. The student artists range in age from 5 to 15 years old.
The group is called VSA and was formerly known as Very Special Arts. It was founded by Jean Kennedy Smith, the last living sibling of President John F. Kennedy.
