Arson Suspect Could Face Murder Charges After Woman Dies From Injuries
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A Baltimore man charged with arson could soon be facing the much more serious charge of murder now that the fire victim has died from her injuries.
Sky Eye Chopper 13 captured the chaos last week as residents on Ridgewood Avenue watched neighbors struggle to escape.
It started around 2:45 p.m. last Monday. A 40-year-old woman called police and was taken to the hospital, accusing her boyfriend, 26-year-old Jordan Grimes, of attacking her with a baseball bat.
"Approximately two hours later is when the individual returned who was the suspect in the domestic and allegedly set the house on fire," said Baltimore City Police Major Marc Partee.
Police tell WJZ there were as many as 10 people inside of the home at the time. The victims were treated at Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center.
The 40-year-old victim was badly burned and died from her injuries Monday.
