Arrest Made In Frederick Jewelry Store Robbery
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Police in Frederick say one of the suspects in the smash-and-grab robbery of a downtown jewelry store is in custody.
They announced the arrest Wednesday in Washington of Alonzo Meadows, 31, of Fairfax, Va.
District of Columbia police arrested Meadows early Wednesday. Police say Meadows was driving a black pickup truck linked to the robbery of Colonial Jewelers Tuesday afternoon.
Police in Washington are holding Meadows on a fugitive warrant. Investigators in Frederick are searching the truck for evidence that could help them identify two other suspects.
Police say one of the men produced a handgun before they smashed a glass display case and removed more than $150,000 worth of watches. The men sprayed pepper spray or a similar irritant in the store before making their getaway.
