Arrest In Death Of Md.Teen Shot Walking To School
PALMER PARK, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say an arrest has been made in the killing of a Maryland teenager gunned down while walking to school in Capitol Heights.
Police announced Monday that Travon Bennett, 20, has been arrested for the death of Marckel Ross. The 18-year-old was shot Sept. 11 while walking to Central High School. The 11th-grader was a track athlete at the school.
Bennett is charged with first- and second-degree murder. Police believe Ross was shot during an attempted robbery.
Police held a community meeting shortly after the shooting to ask for the community's help in solving the crime.
