Standoff With Armed Man In Dundalk
DUNDALK, Md. (WJZ) -- Police in Baltimore County were attempting to negotiate with an armed man in Dundalk. Police confirm it ended in an arrest around 12:30 a.m. Monday. Nobody was harmed.
Officers with drawn guns could be seen searching the area of Yorkway and Kinship roads just before 9 p.m. Sunday.
According to an eyewitness, police on a loud speaker asked residents in the neighborhood to stay inside with their doors locked.
The man could be seen sitting on a curb as a police armed vehicle approached him.
According to police, the incident started after an officer stopped a car on Willow Spring Road. The driver got out of the car and threatened to shoot himself. Officers maintained a perimeter around the man as he walked up to the intersection.
"When I came home, I followed one of the police officers that was doing surveillance I guess. And I watched him get out of his car and open the truck, pull out a gun. There was another officer on the corner with a gun," said Stacey Fisher, who lives in the neighborhood. "So since then we had helicopters out telling us to take cover, stay inside - they've stopped since then. but we have swat team here. they're outside with big guns."
Police are asking that residents avoid the area.
