Archbishops In Baltimore & Pittsburgh Make Friendly Wager
BALTIMORE (WJZ)--When the Ravens take the field against the Steelers on Saturday, they'll have a higher power on their side.
Vic Carter reports Baltimore Archbishop Edwin O'Brien entered a friendly wager against the bishop of Pittsburgh, Bishop David Zubick.
If the Steelers win, Archbishop O'Brien will make a donation to a Catholic charity in Pittsburgh.
But a Ravens win means Pittsburgh will make a donation to Our Daily Bread. The local charity serves more than 250,000 meals to Baltimoreans in need each year.
"The donation to us actually will help us feed more people," said Sabree Akinyele, Our Daily Bread. "It will also help out our other services that we offer to our clients."
Our Daily Bread says because of the economy, donations are needed more now than ever.
"The face of the people who come through our door has changed," Akinyele said. "We're seeing a lot of the working poor--people who just need to stretch their dollars, who really don't have enough to make it, or people who recently lost their jobs and need help. They come through our doors as our guests, and we offer them a meal."
Ravens fans can also make a donation to Our Daily Bread here.
