Anne Arundel County Police Search For Suspects In Home Invasion Of Elderly Couple
GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) -- The search is on for three masked men accused of robbing and beating an elderly couple in Anne Arundel County.
Ron Matz explains.
Oliver Daff is 87 and his 73-year-old girlfriend are victims of a terrifying attack.
"Some guys came in the back way. They pulled me out of the bed and they started beating me up," said victim 87-year-old Oliver Daff.
Daff says three intruders broke into the rear of his Glen Burnie home and brutally beat him and his girlfriend.
"They said, 'Don't open your mouth. Shut your mouth.' They told me, they held me down and then, but they, he hit me again," said Oliver.
"They took a shotgun from me. It wasn't mine - it was my boys'. A 12 gauge pump. And then they took my television, a brand new big television," he said.
Anne Arundel County Police are hunting for the assailants.
"We do not believe this to be a random attack. We believe these people targeted this particular address. At this point, we're not disclosing the reason why we believe that," said J.T. Smith, Anne Arundel County Police.
The crime scene is just off Dorsey Road.
The attack has left Oliver and his 73-year-old girlfriend, Lynn Paquette, shaken.
"I thought we were going to be killed. If I didn't go by their orders and do what they say, that they would kill me," said Paquette.
"I says, 'Please don't hurt him.' I kept begging them not to be hurting him, you know. So, I mean, it was just terrifying, just terrifying," said Paquette.
The three suspects fled in an unknown direction and Oliver Daff was able to make it across the street to a neighbor who called 911.
"Unfortunately, these three assailants assaulted the victims and fled the scene with some property," said Smith.
"I'm 87 years old and I don't bother nobody. I've worked hard all my life. Why this happened, I don't know," said Oliver.
"I hope they catch them. I hope- we don't need people like that in this world. We don't need it. We go to church and everything and live for the Lord. They get the love of God in their heart, they wouldn't do something like this," said Oliver.
Oliver needed eight stitches for a forehead wound.
Both victims were treated for their injuries at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
They have been released.
A member of the community has come forward to donate a new T.V. to the victim. It will be sent over Sunday morning and Anne Arundel County Police will help install it.
