Anne Arundel Police Officer Fatally Shoots Man
GAMBRILLS, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County police say an officer responding to a report of a domestic assault has fatally shot a man.
The shooting happened Friday evening at a home in Gambrills. Neighbors told police that the woman called out to neighbors for
help and said she was bleeding. Police say the man then dragged the woman back into the home.
Police say the officer became involved in a physical struggle with a man inside the home and shot him in the upper body. The man, identified as Gary Petrie, later died at the R. Adams Crowley Shock Trauma Center. Police say the woman was being treated for non-life threatening injuries at a different hospital.
The officer has been with the department for four years. Police are continuing to investigate.
