Anne Arundel Officer Struck During Traffic Stop
PAROLE, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County police say one of their officers has been injured after being struck by a car during a routine traffic stop.
Authorities say the officer asked a car to pull over near Aris T. Allen Boulevard and Route 50 about 9 p.m. Sunday. While there, police say two vehicles came around a corner and one rear-ended the other, which then hit the officer.
Police say three passengers in the striking car ran from the scene. Two were later taken into custody, and authorities were searching for the third person.
The officer was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The southbound lanes of Aris T. Allen Boulevard were shut down for several hours and reopened about 2:30 a.m. Monday.
