Anne Arundel County Police Announce $10K Reward In Missing Teens Cases
MILLERSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- Police in Anne Arundel County announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of two "long-term critical missing" teenagers Friday morning.
"Some information on both of these cases is extremely concerning," Anne Arundel County Police Sgt. Jaclyn Davis said. "A lot of times when we see missing teenagers, they'll be social media, they'll be some phone activity. They'll be some signs that they're not wanting to be found. In these two cases, that's not the case."
The first case is from 2015. Then-16-year-old Javier Octavio Rodriguez from Annapolis was last seen leaving work on a skateboard around 9 p.m. August 6, 2015, at the Burger King on West Street. He was last seen wearing his Burger King uniform.
The second case is from 2017 and also involves a 16-year-old boy. Police said David Rivera from Annapolis went missing on August 29, 2017, around 10 a.m.
Rivera was last seen by his mom and was wearing a hoodie, jeans and New Balance sneakers.
"I miss my son very much," Rivera's mother said. "He was always with me. He used to always take care of me. He used to hug me, tell me, 'Mommy, I love you. Mommy, I need you.'"
Police said neither teen has been seen since, and they believe people in the community have information but are afraid to come forward.
"Not reporting, not talking about it, not being understanding of the violence that has hit the community, is going to create more pain for someone else," Anne Arundel County Cpl. Jose Cruz-Miranda said.
