Anne Arundel Co. Police Officer Charged For Warning Drug Dealers About Raid
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)-- Anne Arundel County Police and the State's Attorney's Office have arrested and charged a police officer on obstruction and drug charges.
The charges against Corporal Rick Alexander stem from a search and seizure warrant that Anne Arundel County Police executed at 10 p.m. on Thursday in the 1300-block of Juniper Street in Shadyside.
Five suspects detained from that location told police during their interviews with detectives that Alexander had informed them of the police raid before it happened. Further investigations revealed phone records and conversations between Alexander and one of the suspects.
The suspects also said that because they were tipped off by Alexander about the raid, they were able to move the drugs from the Juniper Street residence to another location, where detectives later found $829 worth of marijuana.
Alexander, 36, is a 14-year veteran with the Anne Arundel County Police Department. He appeared before the District Court Commissioner but was released on his personal recognizance.
