Annapolis Man Sentenced In Deadly Drunk Driving Crash
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A man who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence during a crash that killing a stranded motorist has been sentenced to a year in jail.
Jose Jesus Garcia-Salmoran, 30, of Annapolis was sentenced Thursday in the July 2011 crash killed Jasmine Owens, 20, of Upper Marlboro.
According to a statement of facts, Owens' car had hit a guardrail on Route 50 and was left disabled in the right lane.
The Capital of Annapolis reports that Owens got out of her car to inspect the damage and was hit by a truck driven by Garcia-Salmoran. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Garcia-Salmoran was found to have a 0.13 blood alcohol content.
