Annapolis Man Apologizes For Public Urination
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- An Annapolis man is making an unusual public apology to avoid going to court over charges of public urination.
The Capital reports 69-year-old Richard Vermillion was cited by Annapolis police in October 2012 after Mayor Josh Cohen saw him with his pants down to his ankles, urinating off of the third floor of a parking garage. It happened on a Tuesday afternoon next to City Hall.
Vermillion was scheduled for a hearing Friday on misdemeanor charges. But the state decided not to prosecute.
Vermillion's attorney Sam Brown says Vermillion sending a letter to the newspaper to apologize.
Cohen says he read the letter and is pleased with the apology. He says avoids wasting time in court.
Cohen says Vermillion made a $1,000 donation to MainStreets Annapolis for downtown beautification.
