Annapolis Exhibit Links Work Of Artists, Students
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A new exhibit at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis is pairing the work of artists with students from a local middle school.
The Capital reports artists from The Artery, an artist cooperative, created a series of 21 works, and students from Bates Middle School in Annapolis wrote poems or prose about each work for the show.
The exhibit, "Passing the Torch: Artists Influencing Artists," opened Thursday and will run through Feb. 14.
In one piece, artist Desiree Dalton created a silk screen print that mixed objects from two bays, the Chesapeake Bay and San Francisco Bay. Then an eighth grader named Eric wrote a poem about a pond with Dalton's art as inspiration. Dalton says it provides a new way to look at the art.
