Annapolis Considers New Store Concept At City Dock
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A Baltimore convenience store chain is proposing a new type of store to obtain a prominent space in the City Dock area of Annapolis.
The Capital reports Royal Farms will make its case to the Annapolis Business Association Sept. 12 to occupy a space that was home to Stevens Hardware for 53 years. A meeting with city zoning officials is set for this week.
City zoning regulations ban convenience stores at City Dock. Annapolis officials say Royal Farms hopes to get a special exception as a food service destination.
Business Association President Sean O'Neill says downtown residents would love to see a grocery store. He says Royal Farms could fill a niche as a mini grocery store.
In Baltimore, Royal Farms has a store offering food and seating.
