Andy Freed Previews Orioles Vs Rays From Tampa Bay
Andy Freed is the radio announcer for Tampa Bay Rays game day radio broadcasts.
Andy joined Ed and Steve to talk about the upcoming series between the Orioles and the Rays.
Ed asked Andy about how the Tampa Bay Rays' fan base has reacted to the changes in management and front office this past off-season. "The Rays fan base is very misrepresented nationally, I can't argue that they don't get enough people in the stadium but that has to do with the location of the stadium." Andy noted that the fans of the Rays are very passionate about their ball club.
Steve asked Andy about what the Rays and Orioles might do at the trade deadline. Andy thinks the Orioles were flawed from the beginning of the season, "The problem with the Orioles is they came into the year with 11 free agents, I wonder why the Orioles got rid of Alejandro de Aza and Delmon Young." Andy also added that he doesn't feel the Rays will be very active at the trade deadline. "The Rays historically are not a team that gets anything at the deadline, they do most of their big business in the off-season."
Andy also gave his thoughts on the race for the AL East title, the great year that Rays' starting pitcher Chris Archer has gotten off to, the down year of Tampa's third baseman Evan Longoria and the lack of success of clubs that spent big in the off-season.
