Amy Trask Weighs In On Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice And More
Amy Trask of CBS Sports, who was the former CEO of the Oakland Raiders, joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn and Jason La Canfora to give an executives point of view with what is going on in the NFL regarding Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice and the battle between the NFL and the NFLPA. The biggest news of the day was the NFL suspending Vikings running back Adrian Peterson for the remainder of the 2014 season. Peterson released a statement in response announcing his plans to appeal the suspension. Scott started things off by asking Amy if she is surprised by any of this particular situation. "I'm not surprised. I'm not surprised by the substance issues, I'm not surprised by the procedural issues and I'm not surprised that in the aftermath we've got a lot of conflating of the substance and procedural issues."
Jeremy followed things up by asking if there is anything Roger Goodell could do to set the standard for how the NFL can hand domestic violence cases. "I would make a tremendous amount of effort to focus on clarity and consistency. One set of procedures, one set of prophecies; one set rules and let's apply them consistently. Look, the facts of every case are going to differ but that doesn't mean that the process needs to differ in each instance. That strikes me as situational ethics."
Finally Scott asked Amy about the Ray Rice situation and how the Raiders organization would have reacted with a head coach having interest in bringing in a player who has had personal issues like Rice. "Any discussion of that nature would be handled with ownership involvement and the owner with the top of the chart."
