Advocates Want Protection For Minors Against Indoor Tanning
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- Ban the tan. Annapolis is considering outlawing tanning beds for minors.

Trying to get kids out of the tanning beds. The latest legislative attack focuses on a new FDA warning that sunlamps should not be used on minors.
"Recently in our school we've been hearing a lot of people talking about tanning," said Madi Wall.
Some Annapolis High School students have joined a crusade against indoor tanning. The cause is multi-generational.
"My wife was diagnosed in 2000 with melanoma," said Bill Krach.
Not long after his wife, Krach was diagnosed with skin cancer as well. Both in younger years had been regulars at the tanning salon.
"This is not a form of cancer that just happens and we have to throw up our hands. It is a form of cancer that we know what to do to stop," said Sen. Jamie Raskin, (D) Montgomery County.
Those opposed to the bill represent the tanning salons, arguing Maryland already requires parental consent and a state ban isn't necessary.
"This bill would ban parental consent. We are asking that you please uphold current law that allows parental consent," said Jessica Cooper, Federation of Independent Businesses.
These teens believe more is needed.
"It's a problem because not many people are educated on the topic of it," said Morgan Corby.
It's not clear when or if the bill will come up for a vote.
The bill bans indoor tanning only for minors under the age of 18.
