Aberdeen Shooter Had Incident With Officer 3 Years Ago

ABERDEEN, Md. (WJZ)—An Aberdeen police officer is recovering Saturday after being shot in the face early Friday morning.

The shooting happened around 3:00 a.m. on Ohio Court near Baltimore Street.

Police scoured the area for hours, even shutting down schools, searching for 21-year-old Tyler Scott Testerman.

"We've identified him as the triggerman in this incident, so we are looking at him for the injuries sustained to our officer," said Sergeant William Reiber, Aberdeen Police Department.

Officer Jason Easton, a 10-year veteran of the force, was rushed to Shock Trauma after police say he sustained injuries to his face when he was hit by six to eight projectiles. He was released from the hospital on Saturday.

The Harford County SWAT team surrounded a home in Edgewood early Friday afternoon and arrested Testerman without incident.

Investigators say they have recovered that .410 caliber shotgun used in the shooting.

According to our media partner The Baltimore Sun, Testerman and Officer Easton had an encounter three years ago when he was charged with fourth-degree burglary, theft under $10,000 and other violations. He was found guilty of theft and was sentenced to eight months behind bars.

Police have also arrested 26-year-old Scott Lawrence for his involvement in Friday's shooting.

Both men remain behind bars on attempted murder charges.
