Aberdeen Attempted Robbery Caught On Tape
ABERDEEN, Md. (WJZ) -- Police in Aberdeen have released a video of a store robbery and are hoping the public can help them identify the suspect.
According to police, the Dollar General Store in the Aberdeen Shopping Plaza was robbed around 2:37 p.m. on Thursday.
The suspect entered the store and demanded money from an employee at a register, pointing a silver handgun at the employee.
When the employee was unable to open the register, the suspect fled.
Officers arrived within minutes to search for the suspect with a canine team, but they were unable to locate him.
The suspect is described as a male in his late 50s to early 60s. He's about six feet tall and a thin to medium build.
At the time of the attempted robbery he was wearing a black polo-style shirt, khaki-colored shorts, a black baseball cap with the Aberdeen Ironbirds logo and dark-color "crocks" with no socks.
Footage captured the suspect driving away silver or tan-colored 4-door Ford Taurus.
