AACo. State's Attorney Investigating O'Malley Discounted Furniture

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- The Anne Arundel County state's attorney is investigating Martin O'Malley's discounted furniture from the governor's mansion in Annapolis.

That's according to our media partner, The Baltimore Sun.

A spokesperson for O'Malley issued a statement, saying in part: "This is a bogus political attack that the Maryland Republicans have tried to make stick, and it's sad that they're wasting taxpayer resources on it."

A probe began in September after an investigation found O'Malley paid nearly $10,000 for dozens of mansion furnishings that originally cost taxpayers $62,000.

The discounted sale was authorized by outgoing O'Malley administration officials after each item had been classifed as junk.
