Anne Arundel Co. Police Arrest 2 Men For Illegal Possession Of Firearm
GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ)— Anne Arundel County police charge two Severn men with illegal possession of a firearm.
Just after 11:30 p.m. Monday, officers stopped a Ford Taurus in the area of Bruton Drive and Southbridge Drive in Glen Burnie for a registration violation.
While investigating the expired and altered tags, Officer Jeffrey Rothenbecker and his K-9 partner Rocky arrived on scene and conducted a scan of the vehicle, obtaining a positive response for the odor of possible drugs in the vehicle.
Both occupants of the vehicle were then seated on a curb while officers began searching the vehicle. What they found was a loaded .38 caliber revolver in a jacket.
When the suspects became aware that officers located the handgun, 20-year-old passenger, Tevin Devereaux McMillian, jumped up and ran away.
The driver, 22-year-old Aaron Jamal Whitten, remained at the scene and was taken into custody while officers pursued the passenger on foot to the area of B&A Boulevard and Marley Meadow Lane toward Henson Road.
Rothenbecker then utilized Rocky to track McMillian, who was hiding in a backyard in the 100-block of Henson Road, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
Police say both suspects were prohibited from possessing regulated firearms and were charged accordingly.
