A Big 'Return' For Fans Of Ravens Wide Receiver Jacoby Jones
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- We're just eight days away from the Super Bowl where the Ravens will take on the 49ers--and the celebrations are already underway.
Rochelle Ritchie has more on the players and fans.
The team heads south on Monday and there are fans who will be following right behind them all the way to Super Bowl XLVII.
It's Purple Pride across Maryland as the Ravens get ready to suit up for a Super Bowl win. From the young to the young at heart, Purple Fever is contagious.
"They are so wonderful to Baltimore and Baltimore loves them so much," Pam Bennett said.
Fans lined up at the MAC in Harbor East to see one of their favorite wide receivers.
"I'm a huge Jacoby Jones fan. We were going to meet him a couple weeks ago but we couldn't make it so I really want to meet him today," said Ravens fan Ali Dowell.
Jacoby Jones took time out of his busy schedule to show his appreciation for his purple fans.
"When you get a chance and have some free time and give back why not come out and show some support to what our community has going on and have some fun with the fans," Jones said.
As did Torrey Smith at Forman Mills. He celebrated his birthday Saturday.
While many will cheer from Charm City, others are hitting the road to the Big Easy with tickets to the game in hand.
"We've been season ticket holders since they came to Baltimore, so we're really pumped and excited," Scott Dunkel said.
Scott and Jackie Dunkel won tickets through a lottery and are taking their RV--decorated in Ravens paraphernalia--down south. And with a ride this big, they aren't concerned about sold out hotels.
"So we're off and real excited about it. We've never been to a Super Bowl before," he said.
And while the Super Bowl is certainly on the mind of the Ravens, Jacoby Jones--a New Orleans native--is looking forward to not only a Super Bowl ring, but:
"I want to eat some crawfish. Crawfish and the Super Bowl, that's it," he said.
The Ravens leave for the Big Easy Monday, and they'll get a big sendoff. WJZ will bring you live coverage of Baltimore's Super Bowl Sendoff Rally Monday at 11:30 a.m.
