$5 Million Settlement Reached In St. Joe's Lawsuit
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A multi-million dollar settlement is reached in a lawsuit against St. Joseph Medical Center.
A judge has ordered St. Joseph to pay nearly $5 million to the state and federal governments.
The hospital disclosed that it admitted patients unnecessarily, billing Medicaid and other government health care programs and generating a larger reimbursement than was proper for each patient.
Of the total amount, $4.75 million will go to the United States and more than $150,000 will go the state of Maryland.
