5 Men Arrested In Connection With Owings Mills Stabbings
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (WJZ)-- A wild brawl, several stabbings and a massive police response. Now, five people are in custody for the chaos that erupted in a normally quiet Baltimore County community.
Mike Schuh has more on the suspects in custody.
It was a chaotic scene-- speeding cars, a passenger nearly bleeding to death, someone shooting at the car as it roared to the hospital. Now, police have announced arrests.
The wound on Ronald Williams' neck nearly killed him. Police say he was one of five men who entered a house in Owings Mills on Tuesday, got into a fight and was stabbed.
Police have recovered a weapon, but it's not a knife. It's one half of a pair of kitchen shears.
"One of the men and a man inside were childhood friends. They've know each other for a long time. There was a disagreement that led up to the stabbing," Det. Cathy Batton of the Baltimore County Police Department said.
He was bleeding so badly, he almost died. His friends piled into a white Crown Victoria and drove him to Northwest Hospital. When police arrived, everyone was detained.
All five of the suspects are between 18 and 21 years old and were detained for questioning. In addition to Williams, Ryan Johnson, Christopher Ramgeet, Merez Ferguson and Jeffery Jackson are charged with attempted murder and assault.
Off camera, scared neighbors are glad to hear this.
"There was a dispute between two people, and that's why this occurred, this was not a random attack," Batton said.
A shooting two blocks away right after the stabbing is connected to this case. The Crown Victoria has a bullet hole in one of its panels.
Two people inside the house had minor stab wounds. No one inside the house has been charged in connection with this incident.
Police say they've been told money might have been what started the trouble.
All five of the men are in the county detention center awaiting arraignment. One of them, Jeffery Jackson, was also charged with possession of marijuana.
County police say the shooting investigation continues and no arrests have been made in that part of this case.
