Mike Tanier of Bleacher Report Previews Week 10
Mike Tanier from the Bleacher Report joins The Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to discuss the mid-way point in the NFL. A lot of teams are in a bunch with their divisions at the mid-way point of the NFL season. Dealing with injuries and dealing with the depth at which to fill in for the injuries have been a problem for some teams. The Ravens are currently struggling with their secondary due to key injuries in the starting lineup. Tainer said, "Ravens have done good in the past because they did a good job of getting these guys ready." Unfortunately, the Ravens recently had to take a player that was released from the Lions to help fill their line.
It is a tight race in the AFC North and the big game this week is between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns. The rest of the schedule for the Browns isn't very tough, minus another game with the Bengals and their last game against the Ravens. Tanier says, "Josh Gordon should be back shortly." He goes on to say, they are a ".500 caliber Browns team. You want to see the Browns get this game and keep the division right around .500." Steelers are really coming around and they seem pretty healthy right now, and injuries are key in staying ahead.
Games being played in London have been a big source of discrepancy. This week's game is between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Dallas Cowboys. Tainer says, "Not a fan of it in general, nobody cares about my opinion." He goes on to say he doesn't like the idea because, "the fields are not that good, there could be a quarterback injury or x,y,z happened." It is a not a good idea for these important division games coming up over here and then going over to London, where the playing conditions are not as good and they risk injury. Tony Romo is said to travel to London for this week's game and possibly play against a 1-8 Jacksonville team. It doesn't seem like a very good idea to put him in that situation, since he is currently coming off a back injury.
