4 Teens Charged In String Of Burglaries
HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- Four teens and one adult have been charged in 16 commercial burglaries since November 2012. The teenagers---a 13-year-old, two 14-year-olds and a 17-year-old---won't be identified. An adult, 24-year-old Charles Rodriguez, is accused of selling stolen merchandise after one of the incidents.
They are accused of breaking into a D&S Auto Service, Dobbin Auto Body, US 1 Flea Market (which was burglarized three times), Rudy's Mediterranean Grill, Olive Garden, Soccer America, LA Boxing, Lakeside Coffee and Cafe, Mad City Coffee, Columbia Nail Salon, Bright Stars Learning Academy, Cradlerock Market, Concentra and J&D Jewelry.
Police say the teens and Rodriguez took a safe, cash, stereo equipment, knives, jewelry, a laptop and an ATM. The safe and ATM were found destroyed near the scenes of the burglaries.
Police say evidence left behind at the Cradlerock Mart burglary helped lead them toward identifying the teens and Rodriguez. They didn't specify what that evidence was.
After the J&D Jewelry burglary, police asked jewelry stores to be on the lookout for someone selling silver jewelry. On Jan. 23, a store called detectives that two people--Rodriguez and the 17-year-old teenager--were attempting to sell jewelry that had been stolen from J&D. Both were arrested.
Additional investigation led to the arrest of the other three teens.
Rodriguez was released on $7,500 bond.
