Suspect Charged, 3 People Shot After Glen Burnie Barricade Situation
GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) — Chaos in Anne Arundel County, as a police-involved shooting escalated to a barricade situation leaving a suspect, an officer and unsuspecting neighbor wounded Tuesday night in Glen Burnie.
Police are now revealing what may have led to the suspect's behavior. WJZ reporter Marcus Washington spoke with the police about the investigation.
All three wounded in the case are recovering tonight, the suspect is identified as 20-year- old Bradley McMillan is facing many charges, including possession of PCP. McMillan called 911 dispatchers telling them that the voices in his head for making him commit the crimes. The woman next door was hit by a bullet from the police.
A home in Glen Burnie became the center of the police-involved shooting, the front of the door painted with bullet holes as the suspect exited the home Tuesday night with his weapons drawn.
"Seconds equal potential for death of the cop. So, when a rifle or long gun, any type of weapon that looks realistic, is leveled at cops, the cops will react in a way to keep themselves alive," said Chief Timothy Altomare, with Anne Arundel County police.
The Anne Arundel County police now know it was a pellet gun. During the exchange of fire, an unsuspected neighbor was hit in her home by a bullet fired by an Anne Arundel Police officer.
"We had some cops who are torn up by the innocent lady getting hit last night. It was significant out there, and it's tell on them emotionally significantly for a long time to come," said Chief Altomare.
After the shots were fired, the suspect went back in his home and called 911.
"The male made statements that the voices in his head were telling him to kill people, and that the voices wanted him to shoot at police," said Lt. Ryan Frashure.
It's a situation that could've had a different outcome, but police say it seems that everyone will make a full recovery. The suspect, McMillan is facing first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, possession of PCP. Police say this is not their first run-in with the suspect.
All officers involved are on routine administrative leave.
