3 Md. Men Charged With D.C. Robbery
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Police in Washington say three Maryland men have been charged with an early morning robbery in Adams Morgan.
Police say the robbery occurred about 3 a.m. Saturday in the 1900-block of Calvert St., NW. Investigators say 22-year-old Sterling Thornton and 21-year-old Montero Valentine, both of Capitol Heights, and 21-year-old Michael Richards of Landover are facing charges. Police say they approached a New York man from behind and began punching him before taking his watch and cell phone.
The Washington Examiner reported Sunday that police said Thornton struck an Alexandria man a few minutes earlier after the man refused to hand over his watch.
Police say the three were apprehended shortly after and charged with robbery by force. Thornton has also been charged with assault with the intent to rob.
