3-Judge Panel Named To Hear Redistricting Lawsuit
ANNAPOLIS Md. (AP) -- The chief judge for the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has named a three-judge panel to hear a lawsuit against Maryland's congressional redistricting map.
Judge William Traxler Jr., announced the panel in court documents made public Tuesday.
The panel includes Judge Paul Niemeyer, of the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, Judge Alexander Williams of Maryland, and Judge Roger Titus also of Maryland.
The lawsuit, which was brought by nine black voters, contends the map approved in a special session of the Maryland General Assembly in October dilutes the black vote in the state.
