3 Episcopal Priests In Baltimore Ordained Catholic
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Three Episcopal priests in Baltimore are being ordained in the Roman Catholic Church to better align with their beliefs.
The Rev. Jason Catania of Baltimore's Mount Calvary Church will be ordained Saturday at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore after a dozen years in the Episcopal Church. He converted to Catholicism in January along with the Revs. John Anthony Vidal and David Reamsnyder.
The Baltimore Sun reports all three will be ordained as Catholic priests this weekend. The Catholic Church is making an exception for Vidal and Reamsnyder to serve as married priests.
The Episcopal church has embraced same-sex marriage and the ordination of gay men and women. The church says its stance on women and equality for gays also is drawing converts from the Catholic Church.
