3 Charged With Perjury In Lyon Sisters Case
BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WJZ)--Three people have been arrested by sheriff's deputies in Bedford County, Virginia on Friday, on charges of lying to the grand jury, according to WUSA9.
WUSA9 reports that Leslie Engleking, Amy Welch and Gladys Stangee were all charged with perjury in connection to the rape and murder of 10-year old Shiela Lyon and her sister, 12-year old Katherine Lyon. All three have posted bond.
Engleking, Welch and Stangee are all related to Richard Welch who is a person of interest in the disappearance of the Lyon sisters.
Detectives from Bedford and Montgomery Counties are convinced that the Welch family is engaged in an on-going cover-up, WUSA9 reports.
Lloyd Welch was indicted last month on charges of murder.
The cold case dates back four decades when the Lyon sisters vanished from a mall in Wheaton on March 25, 1975.
