Clearing House's Sidewalk Bargains To Benefit House Of Ruth
TIMONIUM, Md. (WJZ)— If you're a bargain hunter you might want to head to a popular Timonium consignment shop Wednesday. For the 23rd year, there's a sidewalk sale that draws a big crowd.
Ron Matz reports you'll find some good deals and at the same time help a great cause.
The buzz is building. The Clearing House is getting ready for its annual sidewalk sale.
"I think we have a bigger inventory than we've ever had," said Lisa Hudson, co-owner of Clearing House Ltd. Timonium. "It's going to be a great sale tomorrow for the House of Ruth, and we're looking forward to it."
Hudson says there are bargains all around.
"They're going to find everything. They're going to find jewelry, china, linens, crystal pictures, lamps, furniture, any kind of home accessory and all at a great deal," Hudson said.
The sale benefits the House of Ruth, which helps victims of domestic violence.
"One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale support the House of Ruth, and its programs and services. They do it for us every year. It's incredible," said Jana Stengel, associate director of House of Ruth. "We are funded by donations, and this is a huge donation. It's really helpful."
It's money with a mission, helping those in need.
"It's a great feeling to give back to the community and know that our money is going towards the services and programs of the House of Ruth, where they're really needed," Hudson said
The sale starts Wednesday at 10 a.m., and remember early shoppers get the best bargains.
"We have some lovely Waterford candle holders. It's $20 today but $10 tomorrow," said Cara Derr, Clearing House Ltd. "It's a great deal. We have a beautiful chair that's $200 today, just $100 tomorrow. Bring cash or check only. There's no tax. We can't wait to see you."
It's hoped Wednesday's sale will raise $15,000.
Over the years the Clearing House has donated more than $135,000 to the House of Ruth and other local organizations.
