2 Women Charged With Killing Md. Man
DENTON, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police have charged two women with first-degree murder in the slaying of a Caroline County man whose body was found in the Choptank River near Denton.
Troopers charged Charlene Weddle, 45, and Mary Chider, 34, who both lived with Louis Nichols, 71. Weddle is the daughter of Nichols' late wife.
A man fishing in the river Sunday saw Nichols' body and called authorities.
Police say an autopsy showed Nichols sustained blunt-force trauma and was asphyxiated. Officers say a motive for the slaying is not clear.
