2 Va. Men Arrested After Md. Pursuit
PERRYVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police have arrested two Virginia men after one of them led troopers in a pursuit on Interstate 95.
Nikike Tyler, 31, and Melvin Jones, 32, both of Richmond, are charged with importation of heroin into Maryland and other drug offenses. Tyler is also charged with multiple traffic offenses.
Police say about 2 p.m. Thursday, a trooper stopped a pickup truck on I-95 and smelled marijuana. Jones was out of the truck and was taken into custody, but police say Tyler jumped into the driver's seat and fled.
Authorities deployed stop sticks, and Tyler eventually was stopped at the Maryland House rest area.
