2 Md. Homes Struck By Gunfire During Deer Hunt
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Frederick man faces a negligent hunting charge for allegedly firing a shotgun slug that entered a house.
Natural Resources Police said Wednesday that Raymond Weeks, 51, was hunting Saturday 114 yards from the home on Jackson Court on the northwestern edge of Frederick.
Weeks told police he fired in the direction of a deer, not realizing a house was in the background.
It is illegal in Maryland to hunt with a firearm within 150 yards of an occupied structure without permission from the owner or occupant.
Sgt. Art Windemuth says officers also are investigating an incident in which a house in Walkersville was struck by gunfire Saturday.
No one was hurt in either incident.
