2 Maryland Residents Arrested In Nebraska Pot Case
SEWARD, Neb. (AP) -- Authorities say a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in southeast Nebraska has resulted in two arrests and the seizure of 28 pounds of marijuana.
The Nebraska State Patrol says a trooper stopped an eastbound vehicle near the Milford interchange for a traffic violation a little before 1 p.m. Thursday.
The patrol says a patrol dog taken to the scene alerted officers to drugs inside the vehicle. The patrol says the pot was found inside two duffel bags.
The driver and his passenger were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to deliver.
They were identified as Joseph Leon III, 49, and Alana Peaks, 25. Both live in Gwynn Oak, Md.
A Seward County jailer said they remained in custody on Friday.
Online court records don't yet list their cases.
