Man In Custody After Fatal Fire In New Carrollton
NEW CARROLLTON, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say a man has been arrested after a fire that killed two people at a New Carrollton apartment building.
Police say the man, 44-year-old Anthony Andre Allain, will be charged with murder and arson.
Police responded Sunday evening to a report of a man who barricaded himself in his apartment and set fire inside. He was found hiding in a nearby apartment building after jumping from the third-story balcony.
Police say the apartment is affiliated with a nonprofit group that helps find housing for the mentally disabled. Officials are working to identify the two victims, including one fatally injured while trying to jump to safety.
Police say Allain and another person had an argument before the fire.
It wasn't immediately known whether he had a lawyer.
