2 Injured In Carjacking At Largo Metro Station
LARGO, Md. (AP) -- A father and his daughter were robbed at gunpoint and then carjacked in the parking garage of a Metro station in Maryland on Wednesday, and police were looking for four suspects, authorities said.
The pair was robbed inside the garage stairwell of the Largo Town Center station around 7:15 a.m. by four men in ski masks and dark clothes, said Metro Transit Deputy Police Chief Ronald Pavlik. The 21-year-old woman was shot in her stomach during the struggle, but was expected to be OK. Her 54-year-old father was struck several times in the head with a blunt object but his injuries are also not life-threatening.
The victims' names were not released, but police said they were both from Bowie, Md.
Pavlik says the suspects fled in two cars, including one belonging to the victims. That vehicle was found in Northeast Washington, and police were searching it for evidence and trying to determine whether it was left near the homes of any of the suspects. The other car, a grey 2004 Audi station wagon with Maryland tags, had not been found as of Wednesday afternoon.
Pavlik did not immediately know how much money was stolen.
Authorities believe the robbery is connected to a carjacking last Friday at the New Carrollton station. In that case, a man reported being robbed at gunpoint by several men in ski masks while exiting his car in the station parking lot. The men sustained minor injuries. Police believe the suspects are the same.
