2 Injured In Baltimore Manhole Explosion
BALTIMORE (AP) --A Baltimore fire spokesman says two workers were injured in an explosion in a manhole near a state office complex.
Fire spokesman Kevin Cartwright says the explosion occurred about 12:30 p.m. Monday at 201 W. Preston St. The workers suffered first- and second-degree burns to their face, arms and hands and were taken to nearby hospitals, where they were reported in serious condition.
Cartwright says there is no active fire in the manhole and the cause has not been determined. The spokesman says no other injuries were reported and surrounding buildings do not appear to have been affected by the explosion.
