2 In Custody For Allegedly Causing Fiery Accident In Northeast Baltimore
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A car consumed by flames in a Baltimore neighborhood. The people inside narrowly escape with police right on their heels.
Kai Jackson tells us how it all unfolded.
Sources tell Eyewitness News two innocent people were involved in the accident, and apparently two suspects are in custody for allegedly causing the crash.
Sky Eye Chopper 13 was over Northeast Baltimore as police become firemen, trying to extinguish a burning car near the intersection of Tivoly Avenue near Chilton.
City police were pursuing the vehicle that was burning--a black Lincoln.
Sources tell Eyewitness News that police were trying to stop the driver of the Lincoln.
The details are unclear. But it appears at some point the Lincoln collided with a green Toyota. That sent the Toyota crashing into the garden wall of a house.
The chase ended when the two cars wrecked and one caught fire. Police took action to extinguish the fire even before the fire department arrived at the scene.
Eyewitness News has learned that police took two suspects into custody, two men who were apparently in the Lincoln. Some drugs were allegedly recovered from the vehicle, although it is uncertain how much.
The people in the Toyota were apparently husband and wife and weren't seriously hurt.
The owner of the house came out to survey the damage but says it wasn't serious.
The police investigation continues.
